Description
Having considered the political situation and exercise in Nigeria till date, having consulted wide and considered well the reasons and effects of the chain- length of economic and political instability so far, the situations and circumstances of people decamping and rejoining other political parties, how fraudulent practices and distrust has rented the air of Nigeria politics in the interest for affluence and wealth. How Nigeria politics has turned a quick game in the hand of mischief, how political exercises has been of unworthy practices in the hand of corrupt and selfish leaders. How some leaders have taken laws into their own hands, deciding and instituting self-will upon the provisions of the law, even for some wicked and egocentric interest. How some leaders have assumed frontier positions enjoying and dominating political exercises under some kind of god-fatherism. How things go on with lack of discipline and corruption, and how crisis and political uproars has induced fear upon every good and enthusiastic people of Nigeria to participate in government. “It is however what Ex-president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida observed then, which prompted him to establish the two party system (NRC/SDP) with option A4, which actually discouraged most of political improprieties and hence, prevent or limit the exercises of god-fatherism. It is exactly what he envisaged, banning and unbanning what he was not at peace with and which is happening and evident today and even the worse.
But unfortunately the people of Nigeria misunderstood him”.
No doubt without any controversy, Ex-president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida assembled the best brains we can talk of in Nigeria, to run the government with him. Up till today, nothing like that again has been found. It is all fumbling and grouping in the dark.
To me, I strongly believe that IBB meant well for Nigeria. His introduction of the two party system in the days of his service could have solved at least 90% of our nation’s problem. It would have integrated Nigeria the more, solved the issues of corruption, tribalism, nepotism and resolved many more of national problems. The system would have put Nigeria in the path of greatness, envied by other nations and solved many more economic and political problems. The people of Nigeria mounted pressure on him, they would not allow him to complete his vision for Nigeria nation IBB decided to step aside because the people misunderstood him. Then it is a good hint, that the leaders of Nigeria nation should borrow the vision of Ex-president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, in the re-visitation of the two-party system to present and establish a better economic and socio-political society for a better Nigeria. Should there be a presidential history in our nation Nigeria, IBB should be understudied as a modern-day political phenomenon and philosopher.
