Description

I Smell A Rat, written in simple, lucid and captivating manner, chronicles the author’s exCiting experience in university governance in three universities-University of lbadan, University of Ife (now called Obafemi Awolowo University), Ogun State University (now called Olabisi Onabanjo University)- at all levels, from the lowest level’of the department to the two topmost levels of the Senate and the Council; and at the level of
the Committee of Pro-chancellors of State Universities.

His short digressional stint in the government of Western State of Nigeria as a Commissioner for Education and a member of the Cabinet as well as his chairmanship of the Council of Ogun State College of Education (now called Tai Solarin College of Education) provided useful cognate additions to the richness of his foreboding experiences.

These divinely inspired forebodings were helpful in coping with the challenges of leadership in the institutions. More importantly, they were facilitating factors that
informed his decision to voluntarily quit the stage at various times during his public service. Events that followed these voluntary exits seemed to suggest his having had a sniff of something in the air.

I have read the whole book. It is a great memoir; and it is so well written that I didn’t want to put it down untilI had read it all. There is nothing I would ask you to change -it is authentically you.”
-Professor Banji Akintoye,
a former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

-Professor Layi Ogunkoya,
