Description
The ancient Greek philosopher, Aristotle, remarked that the young are “apt to be carried away by their impulses… and carry everything too far..and every desire into action
The story of Sunday Theman “Baba AlI” brings us to face to face with just one example of the reality of the crisis that engulfs the individual and the family unit as well as other social and development institutions in our communities. It may take one couple to bring forth a child into the world, but it must take the entire village to bring up that child.
The child and the youth of today, who will continue to keep all our visions, hopes, and aspirations into tomorrow, face complex options particularly at this period of great opportunity and even greater uncertainty of what tomorrow holds.
The story of Baba Ali” Pastor Sunday Theman is a story of admonition for our institutions: correctional, educational, and spiritual. It is also a story of encouragement and the grace of God, all serenaded in the life of one person. While my going to prison could be seen from different perspectives, several things have stood out since then. God had a reason for it and one such reason is”The Story of Baba Ali’. This story needed to be told and Pastor Theman thank God for the opportunity. Our prayer is that it should also be the fountain of Grace for everyone who reads even a page of it.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, (1976-1979 and 1999-2007) finally gives us the first glimpse of what he was doing in the three years, three months and three days he spent while in prison on trumped charges of planning a coup. The story is told sharply by “Baba Ali himself led by the President and the two of them succeed in giving the reading public another opportunity to view and review the way we conduct the affairs of our society and what it inevitably will turn to if we fail to restore the position and the privilege of our system of values.-Editor, OOPL Publications Limited
