Description
The century between these dates saw the birth of Modern Nigeria – prosperous, politically self sufficient – in a land devastated by centuries of tribal warfare and slave trading.
This dramatic story describes the work of a body of dedicated men and women trying to impose peace and justice, to suppress slavery and human sacrifice; with them came the missionary, evangelizing as he educated, the trader bringing his wares across the seas and laying the foundation of the country’s future prosperity. The book ends with the arrival in Britain in 1953 of African delegates coming to lay before Her Majesty’s Government their demands for Nigeria’s autonomy.
