After his episcopal ordination, he has served in different capacities as Chairman, of the Committee on Inter-religious Dialogue, Catholic Bishops’ Conference, Nigeria (2012-present); member, of the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue, Vatican City (2012-present); Chairman, of Committee on Inter-religious Dialogue, Regional Episcopal Conference of West African, RECOWA (2012-present). On 11th December 2020, the Holy Father appointed Bishop Kukah as a member of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Human Integral Development.
