Description
What is responsible for the lack of progress in achieving socio-ethnic harmony and religious tolerance in Nigeria after over a century of the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates to form one country; and after over 60 years of Independence? Is the ‘gentleman’s agreement’ to rotate presidential power between the north and south; which has been practiced since 1999 an efficacious cure for the mutual suspicion wracking the multifarious ethnic nationalities that make up the country; or an unintended driver for zero-sum politics?.
How can Nigerians elect a president who would pursue the agenda of multi-sum politics rooted in equity and inclusiveness and driven by patriotic leadership which would build upon the foundation of progress laid by previous administrations? Would the 2023 presidential elections be the turning point?.
Answers to the above and related questions are contained in Becoming ‘President of Nigeria’ which well-meaning Nigerians can leverage to chart a new pathway for a national rebirth as it can serve as a blueprint for resetting the political and social order for the great and united country we all yearn for.
