Priye lyalla (now lyalla-Amadi) is a senior lecturer at the Ignatius Ajuru University of Educaticn, Port Harcourt where she teaches French and Linguistics. She had her tertiary education at the University of Benin (1984), the University of Port Harcourt (1991), the Université de Paris Ill, La Sorbonne (1998) and the University of lbadan where she obtained a doctorate degree in Translation Studies. She has published articles in local and international journals. She has also published abilingual collection of poems in English and French titled, The Eagle Moves On and other poems. Elechi Amadi has long been established as one of Africa’s most distinguished novelists. He is the author of a trilogy of renowned novels, The Concubine, The Great Ponds and The Slave, as well as numerous other literary works and academic publications.
Elechi Amadi has worked in various capacities as school administrator, land surveyor, permanent secretary, commissioner and is currently serving the Rivers State Government as Chairman of the State Scholarship Board. This is a story which surpasses the scope of an ordinary anecdote. Kaydara is a lyrical prose, rich with numerous symbolic allusions and its subtle evocation ofa sense of mystery and the supernatural. The tale is about three able-bodied men who embarked ona journey to the land of Kaydara( the god of gold and knowledge) at the perilof undergoing so many trials. They were guided by three pieces of advice given to them by Kaydarahimself.Woe to whoever ignores them! Find outwhat becomes of these adventurers in the mysterious journey and how Kaydara revealed himself at the end of the tale.
