About the Book The book deals with the Criminal Law of our land. It contains fifteen chapters. It is not exhaustive of all aspects of our Criminal Law, but it examines most of the crimes often committed in the country. The book treats the general principles of our Criminal Law; preliminary offences; offences against public order; breaches of the peace; corruption and abuse of office; offences relating to the administration of justice; offences against morality; idle and disorderly persons; rogues and vagabonds; assaults; homicides; stealing and like offences; forgery and false accounting; offences against liberty and some miscellaneous offences. Anti-Corruption offences as enacted in the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 are discussed in the last chapter of the book.
This book is highly recommended, not only to laymen, but also to law students, legal practitioners and Judges of all categories. It is a sister book to Laws for the Layman.
About the Author The author, Hon. Justice A. A. Kolajo, is a retired Judge of the Federal Capital Territory. While in service, he published four volumes of his selected Rulings and Judgments between 1993 and 1997.
He is the author of For Such a Time As This – A Collection of Biblical Essays first published in 1995 and re-published in 2002. He is also the author of Laws for the Layman first published in 1999 and reprinted in 2000, and Customary Law in Nigeria through the Cases published in 2000.
