She is the Lady of many “firsts”, among which are:
- First Lady state commissioner in Western State Nigeria, 1972.
- First Lady chairman of the board of WNTV and WNBS 1971.
- First Lady Senior Advocate of Nigeria, 1981.
- First governor of Zonta International District 18 (Africa) 1982.
- First non Caucasian to be elected international president of Zonta International, 1992.
She also has many titles: “Queen of the Bar, “lady SAN”, “Lady Silk” “the Mother Who Knows the Law” “the Yeyemofin of Ife” and “Grandmnother Who Knows the Law”. This is her Magnum Opus told in her own words straight from her heart,… a life with passionate ups and downs lived to the fullest with her true love, Toriola Feisitan Solanke, Emeritus Pro fessor Surgery, ather side. The other important man in her life was her father, Chief J.S. Odulate, alias, the Blessed Jacob, the famous Alabukun. Papa Odulate who believed in educating all of his children, regardless of gender, recognized those sparks of genius in his girl child and told her to always “reach for the sky”– from which the title ofthis book derives.
The title of the book Reaching for the Stars, is also related to the “‘stars” given at Methodist Giris High School (Lagos) to a pupil who scored 10/10 three consecutive time in one subject. The author won many stars for Cavell House.
