The Author T. Akintola Aguda, is an eminent all-round jurist and one of the best known law authors in Nigeria today. He has written 14 major authoritative books on Criminal Law, Commercial law, Criminal Procedure, Practice and Procedure and the law of Evidence. Apart from these, he has published articles on Constitutional Law, Human Rights, International law etc. He won the Writers Award for 1985, and LL.D (Honoris Causa) of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and the prestigious Nigerian National Award (NNMA). The author who was in 1966/67 Dean of Law, University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) recently retired as Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Lagos.

The two previous editions of the Law of Evidence were published by Sweet & Maxwell, London. This edition is now published by Spectrum Books Limited, Ibadan.
