Description

The Nigerian Law of Torts

REVISED THIRD EDITION REVISED

THE NIGERIAN LAW OF TORTS KODILINYE AND ALUKO

The Nigerian Law of Torts covers the main principles of torts as applied in Nigeria. The subject is a core teaching area forming part of the degree syllabus in Nigerian universities and one in which there will never be a shortage of litigation. Rapid commercial and industrial growth have ensured a steady flow of actions during the last thirty-six years.

Explaining and illustrating the application of basic principles by reference to Nigerian cases and statutes, this revised edition introduces all the major areas of tort. These include trespass both to the person and to property, negligence, nuisance, defamation, all aspects of liability and damages. Emphasis is placed upon those topics which have been most frequently argued and discussed in Nigerian courts.

One of the authors, Gilbert Kodilinye is already known for his excellent book, Introduction to Equity in Nigeria. The present updated work, incorporating recent and relevant tort cases, was done by the second author, Oluwole Aluko who himself is the author of Civil Procedure of the Superior Courts in Nigeria and The Law of Real Property and Procedure.

The work is targeted at law students although it is expected that legal practitioners will find the citation of Nigerian authorities useful. The book will also appeal to those industrialists, business executives and journalists who require some knowledge of the principles of tort liability.
